IND vs AUS 1st ODI: Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc bowled a riveting opening spell against India in the first ODI at Perth. His five-over spell (5-1-20-1) helped Australia take early control against Shubman Gill-led side. Starc set up Virat Kohli for an 8-ball duck but that wasn’t the talking point of his spell at all.

Fastest Ball in ODI History

The real buzz came when one of Starc’s balls to Rohit Sharma was shown at 176.5 kmph, which would be the fastest delivery ever in ODI history. The moment quickly went viral, with fans joking online that it was a clear mistake by the speed gun. Even though the reading was an error, Starc’s pace remained impressive throughout, averaging around 140 kmph, and one of his quickest legal deliveries was around 145 kmph.

Starc’s Fiery Spell

Starc used his bounce and pace well, troubling Rohit Sharma early on. The Indian captain struggled to score freely and looked frustrated at the crease. In the fourth over, Josh Hazlewood’s delivery found Rohit’s edge, and he was caught for 8 runs off 14 balls, leaving India under pressure.

Australia Dominate Early

Starc then dismissed Kohli in the seventh over, with Cooper Connolly taking the catch at point. Soon after, Shubman Gill was caught behind in the ninth over. India managed only 27 runs for 3 wickets in the powerplay their joint-lowest powerplay score since 2023 giving Australia a strong start in the 1st ODI match between both the team.
