India vs Sri Lanka: India batter Abhishek Sharma has made a history by becoming the highest run-scorer in a single T20 Asia Cup edition. The left-handed batsman from Punjab just needed 34 runs to break Mohammad Rizwan's record in the today's Super Four match against Sri Lanka being held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. 

First batsman to score 300 runs in a single edition of the Asia Cup T20

He achieved the target in the fifth over of India's innings. Exctingly, Abhishek Sharma became the first batsman to score 300 runs in a single edition of the Asia Cup T20. Notably, Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan had played six matches for the Babar Azam-led team in the 2022 Asia Cup, and scored 281 runs. Now, Abhishek Sharma has 309 runs in total six matches. He has shattered Rizwan's record by hitting a four off the fifth ball of Dushmantha Chameera's over. Virat Kohli has now slipped to third place in this list. The former Indian captain had played as many as five matches in the 2022 Asia Cup and scored a total of 276 runs.

Abhishek Sharma scored 248 runs in five innings

Ahead of this match, Abhishek Sharma, opening for India, had scored 248 runs in five innings at an impressive strike rate of 206.67. He had scored two half-centuries. His best score in this tournament was 75, which came in the 41-run win against Bangladesh, which ensured India's place in the final. Abhishek was out at 61 run against Sri Lanka. This was Abhishek's third consecutive half-century in this Asia Cup.

Abhishek was the highest run-scorer for India in the last two Super 4 matches played against Pakistan and Bangladesh. He is the only batsman to score more than 300 runs in the current 2025 edition of the Asia Cup. Bangladesh's Saif Hasan is second with 178 runs in four matches, while Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan has scored a total of 160 runs in six matches played so far. Abhishek is now the third highest run-scorer in Asia Cup T20 International cricket. He has become the third batsman after Virat Kohli and Pathum Nissanka to score more than 300 runs in the T20 format of the Asia Cup.
