Ahmedabad: Rajat Patidar’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans in the final of the Indian Premier League 2026 on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is the same ground that hosted the IPL 2025 final and the T20 World Cup 2026 final in the past two years.
Both the teams have already met in the qualifier 1, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru thrashed Gujarat Titans in Dharamshala.
RCB secured their second consecutive IPL final berth by winning Qualifier 1. GT secured their place in the final by winning Qualifier 2. After the league stage, these two teams finished in the top two points table.
The RCB vs GT final is set to be a high-scoring contest. While Royal Challengers Bangalore appear to be a strong team, but they lost to Gujarat Titans in their previous game at this venue. GT has won five of its seven home games this season.
The IPL 2026 final will be played on the same pitch as the previous final. This pitch has already been used twice this season, including a league game between the two teams. Chasing teams are generally favored in Ahmedabad. Four of the last six finals have been won by the chasing team.
The weather department has said 'light drizzle'. It may become cloudy in the afternoon. But BCCI has made complete preparations. Ground covers are ready. Super Souper machines are also on the field. If the match still does not take place then it is reserve day. That means the final will be held again on Monday. The pitch curator claims that if the rain stops for 10 minutes, the field will be playable in 20 minutes.
Ahmedabad is already coloured in red and blue. Fans from Bengaluru wearing RCB jerseys are roaming around with drums. GT supporters are raising slogans of ‘Awaa De’. The hotels are full. Auto drivers are also demanding double the fare. Police have installed 3 layers of security outside the stadium.
