New Delhi: A big change has been made regarding the playoffs and finals of IPL 2026. This time Bengaluru has been excluded from hosting the final. Not only this, the city will not get a single playoff match. Making its official announcement, BCCI said that now the final will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With this, this stadium will host the IPL final for the fourth consecutive time.

Why was the hosting stripped from Bengaluru?

BCCI said in its statement that due to some “operational and logistical reasons” the venues of the playoff matches have been changed. According to the board, some demands of the local association and administration were outside the set guidelines, due to which the final had to be shifted.

Did the recent controversy also become the reason?

The name of Bengaluru has been in discussion in many controversies for some time. Questions had already been raised over the chaos and stampede-like situation outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB's title celebrations. Apart from this, political controversy also arose regarding IPL tickets this season.

How did the ticket dispute increase the difficulty?

Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar had publicly demanded free tickets for MLAs. Later the matter took a political turn and the state government had to intervene. Ultimately it was agreed to give a limited number of complimentary tickets to MLAs and MPs.

Where will the playoff matches take place now?

According to the new schedule of BCCI, Qualifier-1 will be played in Dharamshala on 26 May. Whereas Eliminator (May 27) and Qualifier-2 (May 29) will be held in New Chandigarh. After this the final will be played in Ahmedabad on 31st May.

Will RCB suffer loss?

Interestingly, RCB is still in a strong position in the race for the playoffs. The team remains on top of the points table, but even if it reaches the finals, it will have to play away from its home ground.

Which team will get the most benefit?

Under the new schedule, the team that wins Qualifier-1 will get the most rest. He will get enough time for preparation and travel before the finals. At the same time, the team winning the eliminator may have to play big matches continuously in a short time, which will increase the pressure.
