"Living history of world cricket": MPCA inaugurates Cricket Museum in Indore

MPCA has showcased many souvenirs of Indian and foreign cricketers from the past, which makes it an exciting tourist place for the young cricket enthusiasts. This will also inspire the youth to take up the beloved sport.

The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association has inaugurated a cricket museum in Indore that showcases over 500 souvenirs associated with Indian cricket and legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, C.K. Nayudu, Syed Mushtaq Ali, etc. The MPCA has claimed that no cricket state association has opened such a museum. The museum also presents cricket gear used by some former players to have played the beautiful sport. Union Minister and former MPCA president Jyotiraditya Scindia has inaugurated the museum alongside Dilip Vengsarkar. The museum, inaugurated on Monday, will now be operated as a tourist attraction.

Inauguration of the Museum

The union minister and former MPCA president has described the newly inaugurated museum as "living history of world cricket." She also said that this museum was an idea that we thought of a decade ago. She said, "We conceived this idea a decade ago. This museum is the result of MPCA's dedicated efforts driven by its love for the game, curating rare items of legendary players from across the globe."

Vengsarkar's contribution

Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar praised MPCA's effort to build such a museum. He said that it would inspire the youth and help them to closely connect with the sport's history. The former cricketer also suggested the use of virtual reality that will help in attracting the youth. Vengsarkar also donated his helmet and blazer to the museum, saying, "I used this helmet from the 1983 World Cup till 1985. It faced many deliveries from legendary West Indian fast bowlers Malcolm Marshall and Michael Holding."

Since it is the first-ever cricket museum in India, the tourist spot will attract the youth population to know more about the history of the sport.
