New Delhi: Indian cricketer Rinku Singh's father, Khanchandra Singh, passed away on Thursday. He breathed his last at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida. He was suffering from stage-4 liver cancer for a long time, and his condition had become very critical.
Khanchandra Singh was fighting liver cancer for more than a year. This cancer had now reached the fourth stage, meaning it had spread a lot. Recently his health took a turn for the worse – infection, kidney problems, and ultimately he had to be put on a ventilator. Doctors tried their best, even starting continuous renal replacement therapy, but he died last night. The entire cricket world is in shock after hearing this news.
T20 World Cup 2026 is going on, and Team India was in Chennai. There was a practice session at MA Chidambaram Stadium on 24-25 February, but Rinku was not seen there. Everyone felt something was wrong. Then it came to light that her father's condition was critical, so Rinku had to return home immediately. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak had said in the press that Rinku has gone due to family emergency and hopefully he will return soon. But now after the death of his father, this question has become bigger whether he will be able to play the future matches (like Super 8 with Zimbabwe) or not. No official update has come from BCCI yet.
Rinku's family is very simple – his father worked as a gas cylinder delivery man and worked hard to support his son's cricket dream. Rinku has always said that it was because of his father that he reached here. Today fans are writing "Stay Strong Rinku" on social media and praying. Teammates are probably also with him, but this time is more about family than cricket.
