New Delhi: Star cricketer Rinku Singh to join Indian team in Kolkata after father's last rites. Will continue to remain part of Team India's campaign at ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Team India's star batsman, Rinku Singh, is returning to his duties for the country after the passing of his father. Rinku Singh will join Team India in Kolkata on Saturday, where the crucial semi-final match between India and the West Indies will be played on Sunday.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that Rinku Singh will arrive in Kolkata on Saturday. Rinku's father, Khanchand Singh, passed away early Friday morning due to liver cancer, after which Rinku left Chennai for Delhi at 5:00 a.m. Rinku's decision to join the team immediately after completing his father's funeral rites reflects his dedication to the game.

What is significance of West Indies clash?

The Indian team will face the West Indies at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. This match is a virtual knockout for both teams. The team that wins this match will qualify directly for the semi-finals from Group 1, along with South Africa. This tournament has been challenging for Rinku Singh so far, with only 24 runs from his bat in five innings. His return to Kolkata will not only strengthen the team, but he will also want to pay tribute to his father with a big innings.
