New Delhi: Preparations are in full swing to integrate the Yamuna River in the national capital into a new stream of development, tourism, and employment. Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta inspected the Yamuna ferry service project, currently being developed between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur. During the visit, she sought detailed information from the concerned officials regarding the project's progress, existing arrangements, and future action plans.

The dream of travelling along the waves of the Yamuna is now moving toward giving a new dimension to tourism in Delhi. The project aims to promote better utilisation of the river while accelerating efforts toward the rejuvenation of the Yamuna. The launch of the ferry service is expected to offer a new attraction for both the residents of the capital and tourists. Travelling via the river could add a fresh chapter to Delhi’s tourism landscape.

Prospects for Development and Employment

The Yamuna ferry service project is not limited to tourism alone; it also holds the potential to create new local employment and livelihood opportunities. The operation of ferries, tourism-related activities, and the expansion of local services are likely to benefit the surrounding areas. The Chief Minister’s inspection is considered significant in terms of the project's progress and developmental preparations. The government’s objective is to link the Yamuna with the mainstream of development while providing a new tourism option for the people of Delhi. Cabinet Minister Shri Kapil Mishra and officials from the relevant departments were present during the inspection.
