New Delhi: The Delhi government has intensified preparations for Chhath, a major festival of public faith. Prioritising the devotion, safety, and convenience of the devotees, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited Sur Ghat to inspect the arrangements for the Chhath festival. During her visit, she reviewed the facilities at the ghat and issued necessary directives to the concerned officials regarding cleanliness, security, lighting, and amenities for the devotees.
The Chief Minister emphasised that devotees should not face any inconvenience during the Chhath festival. It is the administration's responsibility to ensure proper cleanliness, adequate lighting, and robust security arrangements at the ghats. As a large number of devotees arrive to offer 'arghya' (oblations) to the Sun God during the festival, there must be no negligence in the arrangements.
Cabinet colleague Kapil Mishra was also present during the inspection. The focus remained on the various preparations being made for the festival. In Delhi, Chhath is not merely a religious event; it is a symbol of faith, culture, tradition, and social cohesion. Millions of devotees from various regions, including Purvanchal, celebrate this festival with deep reverence and enthusiasm. Providing high-quality facilities at the ghats is essential to upholding the dignity of the festival. The Chief Minister’s inspection served to accelerate administrative preparations and ensure better arrangements for the devotees.
