New Delhi: A Nirbhaya-like incident has once again occurred in Delhi. A 30-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in a moving sleeper bus. The police have arrested two accused, the driver and conductor, in the case. As per the complaint, the woman alleged that two men dragged her inside the bus and raped her.
The incident took place on Monday night in Delhi's Rani Bagh area. The survivor, who is married and has three children and a resident of a slum cluster in Pitampura, is employed at a factory in Mangolpuri.
According to the initial police investigation, the woman was returning home at night after work. Meanwhile, the driver and conductor of a private bus pulled her onto the bus. They then drove the bus for approximately seven kilometers, and the two men took turns gang-raping her.
The police said that on the night of May 11, the victim was walking back home after work, when a sleeper bus pulled up at bus stop in Saraswati Vihar.
According to police, the woman reportedly approached a man standing at the bus door to ask for the time, after which she was allegedly forced inside the vehicle.
Police said the accused then drove the bus towards Nangloi, where the sexual assault allegedly took place.
As per the police, the vehicle allegedly used in the crime has been seized. Officials added that the probe is ongoing and all possible angles are being examined.
