New Delhi: A shocking case has emerged from Delhi, where a man suffered serious consequences after taking medication based on advice he received from the internet and artificial intelligence (AI). A man over 40 started taking medicines on his own to prevent HIV infection. Within a few days, his condition deteriorated so much that he had to be admitted to the hospital and now he is in critical condition.

This incident gives a clear warning to people about how dangerous it can be to take any step in medical matters without doctor's advice.

After all, what medicines had he taken?

It is being told that the person purchased Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) medicines given to prevent HIV. Generally, these medicines are given under the supervision of a doctor and are started only in special circumstances. But instead of taking advice from a doctor, he started the entire course himself by taking information from the AI chat platform.

How did your health suddenly deteriorate?

About a week after starting the medicine, red rashes started appearing on his body. Symptoms like skin irritation, pain and blisters started appearing. When his condition deteriorated rapidly, he was taken to different hospitals. Ultimately he was admitted to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Doctors diagnosed him with a severe allergy to the drug, a condition called Stevens-Johnson syndrome. This is a dangerous reaction, which can cause damage to the skin and internal parts of the body.

Is it right to take medicine on the advice of AI?

Doctors clearly say that AI or Internet can only give general information, but cannot decide the treatment. Every medicine has side effects and every patient's body responds differently. Therefore, taking such medicines without testing and doctor's supervision can be a big risk.

What lesson can be learned from this incident?

Nowadays, people quickly start taking medicines on their own after taking advice from internet or app. But this method can prove dangerous. Even a small mistake can become fatal. It is clear, do not take any decision related to health on your own. First visit a doctor, get proper examination and then start treatment. Technology can be helpful, but cannot replace a doctor.
