New Delhi: In an effort to strengthen the bond of trust between the police and the public in the national capital, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar initiated a public interaction in a distinctive manner. On November 7, he personally visited Alipur Police Station in Outer North District and organised a public grievance hearing along with a Diwali Milan समारोह, directly listening to the problems of local residents. During this occasion, the police station premises became a centre for complaints, suggestions and interaction. Notably, as soon as information about the Police Commissioner's visit spread, not only complainants but also a large number of villagers from nearby rural areas arrived with their problems and suggestions.
During the public hearing, Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar listened to people's complaints with seriousness and patience. He reviewed the cases concerned and ensured necessary action wherever an immediate resolution was possible. For the remaining complaints, he issued clear instructions to the concerned officers to ensure that cases were not unnecessarily delayed and that action was taken within the stipulated time.
During the public hearing, villagers prominently raised issues related to local traffic management, road connectivity and other civic problems. Residents also presented important suggestions concerning the ground realities of the area before the Police Commissioner. The Commissioner listened to all the suggestions seriously and had them recorded for appropriate action. This initiative provided villagers with an opportunity to communicate their concerns directly to the highest-ranking police official.
A Diwali Milan समारोह was also organised at Alipur Police Station on this occasion. The Police Commissioner extended Diwali greetings to local residents and appreciated the dedicated work of the police station's officers and staff, encouraging them. He motivated police personnel to continue working with sensitivity, commitment and a spirit of service towards the public.
During the visit, Joint Commissioner of Police, Northern Range, Vijay Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer North District, along with other officials, were present. The visit was not merely a formal inspection but also conveyed a message of direct communication between the police and the public. The Delhi Police initiative aims to strengthen transparency, accountability and citizen-centric policing.
