New Delhi: Amid the festive celebrations of Diwali, the Delhi Police has stepped up security arrangements across the national capital to prevent any security lapses. With markets witnessing heavy crowds and festive activity, a strong security cordon is being established. As part of the initiative, police conducted foot patrols in Anand Vihar and Jhilmil markets in Shahdara district to review the security arrangements.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Eastern Range, Milind Mahadev Dambre, along with Additional DCP Geetanjali Khandelwal, ACP Prem Kumar and SHO Manish Kumar, led the security operation alongside Delhi Police personnel and armed forces. The officers conducted foot patrols, inspected sensitive locations and reviewed the security arrangements in the markets.
During the inspection, the Joint Commissioner of Police stated that the safety of the general public remains the highest priority of the police. He emphasised that no anti-social elements would be allowed to take advantage of the festive crowds to commit any criminal activities. He further stated that the number of shoppers in markets is increasing as Diwali approaches. Accordingly, additional police personnel have been deployed in major markets and sensitive areas, while patrolling and surveillance have also been intensified.
