New Delhi: The North-West District Police organised a public grievance hearing at Adarsh Nagar Police Station on the occasion of Thana Diwas, aiming to address citizens’ concerns, strengthen public trust and speed up complaint resolution. The session was chaired by Joint Commissioner of Police, Northern Range, Vijay Singh, under the supervision of North-West District DCP Akanksha Yadav.
A large number of residents attended the hearing and presented their grievances. Police officials listened to the complainants and directed the concerned officers to take appropriate action based on the nature of each case.
Around 170 to 180 complaints were received during the public hearing, of which more than 130 were resolved on the spot. To prevent delays in the remaining cases, the concerned officers were instructed to initiate immediate action and ensure timely resolution in accordance with established procedures.
The exercise was aimed at making grievance redressal more accessible and ensuring that citizens receive appropriate responses to their concerns.
Complaints related to domestic violence and parking arrangements featured prominently during the hearing. Residents also raised various other local issues and difficulties before the police officials.
Officers emphasised the need to handle every complaint sensitively and take action according to the circumstances. Particular attention was given to hearing victims in domestic violence cases and ensuring appropriate legal action. Parking-related grievances were to be addressed through coordination with the relevant departments and officials.
The initiative sought not only to resolve complaints but also to reassure residents that their concerns were being taken seriously. The on-the-spot disposal of more than 130 cases provided immediate relief to complainants, while directions issued in the remaining matters were intended to accelerate further action.
Regular public hearings such as Thana Diwas provide a platform for direct communication between citizens and the police, helping improve transparency, accountability and public participation in local policing.
DCP Akanksha Yadav emphasised that addressing public grievances remains a priority for the police, regardless of whether the issues are minor or serious. The department reiterated its commitment to listening to citizens and ensuring appropriate action on their complaints.
