Delhi Traffic Police Organizes Road Safety Awareness Drive at Nand Nagari DTC Depot

New Delhi: To spread the message of safety of life while driving at high speed on the road, Delhi Traffic Police organized a special road safety awareness program at Nand Nagari DTC Depot. A large number of DTC drivers, conductors, other employees and common citizens participated in this campaign organized under the aegis of Nand Nagari Traffic Circle.

Road Safety Cell and Nand Nagari Traffic Staff played an active role under the supervision of Eastern Range Traffic DCP Shweta Chauhan. During the awareness campaign, audio-visual presentations and awareness films related to road safety were displayed through ME vans. Through films and visual presentations, people were told how a little carelessness on the road can lead to a major accident.

With the rules, in the name of life

During the campaign, special emphasis was laid on prevention of road accidents and safe road behaviour. Traffic policemen motivated the drivers to follow traffic rules, maintain discipline on the road and drive responsibly. In the programme, especially minor children were made aware about stopping driving. Parents and drivers were explained that giving vehicles to children at an early age can pose a serious threat to their lives as well as to the lives of other road users.

DTC drivers and operators were made aware of the importance of safe driving and a message was given to adopt patience, caution and responsible behavior on the road. He was told that public transport drivers play an important role in the responsibility of road safety and their alert behavior is linked to the safety of thousands of passengers.

Awareness van becomes a mobile platform for road safety

Awareness films and audio-visual material shown in the ME van made the program effective. People were made to understand the importance of traffic rules through real-life situations and messages related to road safety. The objective of the program was not only to give information about the rules but also to create a feeling among the people to become responsible citizens on the road. The traffic police appealed that every driver should give priority to his own and others' safety before rushing to reach his destination.
