New Delhi: Delhi Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the INDIA alliance rally to be held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on Sunday. Considering the possibility of around 50 thousand people attending the rally, the entire ground has been divided into 14 zones. A plan has been made to deploy about four thousand policemen for security and crowd management. However, due to the rain on Saturday, Ramlila grounds were flooded and preparations for the rally were affected due to mud at many places.

Why was the ground divided into 14 zones for security?

According to police officials, senior officials will keep a constant eye on the security arrangements during the proposed rally from 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday. The responsibility of each zone will be handed over to an ACP rank officer, while the two zones will be monitored by Additional DCP rank officers. The purpose of this arrangement is to control the crowd and ensure immediate action in case of any emergency.

How will the investigation be conducted before admission?

Metal detectors are being installed at the entry gates of Ramlila Maidan. People will be allowed to enter the grounds only after security check. Apart from this, 150 additional traffic policemen will be deployed at major intersections and surrounding routes so that the traffic system is not affected during the rally.

How will surveillance be maintained with more than 200 cameras?

More than 200 CCTV cameras will be used to monitor the grounds and surrounding areas. Along with this, policemen will also monitor through body-worn cameras. Riot control vehicles and vehicles equipped with special surveillance equipment will also be deployed to deal with any untoward incident. The security arrangements will be monitored at the level of senior officers.

What responsibilities were also assigned to the organisers?

Delhi Police has also instructed the organisers of the rally to cooperate in security arrangements. They have been asked to install high-definition CCTV cameras at strategic locations and prepare control rooms to monitor their footage. Apart from this, complete details of the invitees, volunteers and the buses that brought them have been sought.

Organisers have been instructed to coordinate with the traffic police to decide parking arrangements. No one will be allowed to stay at night in the grounds. The police have also asked the organisers to maintain discipline and avoid speeches that are likely to disturb communal harmony.

Why will 270 CAPF companies remain in Delhi till 16th November?

Apart from the rally, in view of the possibility of sudden demonstrations by various organisations, the Central Government has extended the deployment of 270 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in Delhi till November 16. This is the third time that their period of deployment has been extended. Earlier this month, these forces were called to Delhi in view of the CJP protests. The responsibility of their deployment and coordination has been handed over to Delhi Police.
