New Delhi: An important meeting of Ratia Urban Rice Millers Association was held on Tuesday at MR Jindal Rice Mill under the chairmanship of Association President Monu Jindal. All the rice millers of Ratia city participated in the meeting. In the meeting held regarding the paddy procurement season, many important decisions regarding the procurement process, equitable distribution of paddy and collective decisions of the association were taken unanimously.

It was clearly decided in the meeting that no rice miller will take paddy directly from the trolley to his sheller. If any miller is found disregarding the decision of the Association and taking paddy directly from the trolley into his sheller, then a penalty of Rs 51 thousand will be imposed against him by the Association and this amount will be deducted in the form of cowshed slip.

Emphasis on giving equal opportunities to all millers

The association also took an important decision regarding equitable distribution of paddy purchased from the market. It was decided that equal quantity of paddy would be provided to all the rice millers. First each miller will be supplied with up to 2000 metric tonnes of paddy. The gate pass of the miller whose 2000 metric tonnes of goods is completed will be closed once, so that paddy can be made available to the next miller. The objective of this arrangement is to provide level playing field to all millers in the procurement process.

Only paddy of 17 percent moisture and FAQ quality will be purchased

It was also unanimously decided in the meeting that no rice miller would go to the market on his own to purchase PR paddy. Only the inspector of the concerned procurement agency will purchase paddy as per the parameters set by the government. Only dry and FAQ quality paddy with 17 percent moisture will be included in the purchase. After procurement, the paddy will be sent to the respective shellers as per the prescribed procedure.

The association also decided that if any rice miller violates the decisions taken unanimously in the meeting, a complaint will be lodged against him to the concerned administrative authorities. Along with this, it was decided by the association to impose a fine of Rs 5 lakh.

The rice millers present in the meeting agreed to the decisions taken to conduct the paddy procurement process in a transparent and systematic manner and to provide equal opportunities to all the millers.
