Four Delhi private schools, Punjab Secretariat receive bomb threat, probe underway

New Delhi: Four schools in the national capital and Punjab-Haryana Secretariat were thrown into alarm on Thursday after they received bomb threat emails just days after Republic Day.

Authorities in both cities responded immediately, sending police, bomb disposal teams and fire tenders to investigate.

Which school received the mail?

Four private schools in Delhi which received threatening emails, include the Loretto Convent school in the Delhi Cantt area, the Don Bosco in CR Park, the Carmel School in Anand Niketan and the Carmel School in Sector 23 Dwarka. 

The school received the call in the morning between 8 am to 10 am.

The Loretto Convent school received a call at 8:22 am, Don Bosco received a call at 9:18 am, Carmel School in Anand Niketan received a call at 9:22 am and Carmel School in Dwarka received a call at 9:25 am. 

Informing about the security threat, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate sent out a message to the parents of the students.

In the mail, the Sardar Patel Vidyalaya administration informed the parents that "a security threat had been received in the morning, and authorities were immediately alerted." and further said that a bomb squad team conducted a thorough inspection of the entire campus.

Soon after receiving information, police reached the spot, but nothing suspicious has been found so far.

What happen in Punjab Secretariat?

On Thursday, Khalistan National Army has issued a bomb threat to the Punjab Secretariat. Following the threat, the administration evacuated the Civil Secretariat in Punjab and Chandigarh. 

As a safety precaution, all employees of Punjab Secretariat were immediately asked to leave the building and move to the open parking area. 

How did authorities respond?

Police teams, including bomb detection squads and firefighters, rushed to the affected area to carry out checks. 

Delhi Fire Service officer said that "Our teams are on site, and standard operating procedures are being followed. Nothing suspicious has been found so far."

In Punjab, the crime branch and its forensic wing took the lead in probing the threat. 

Is there any confirmation of a real threat?

Officials said that the warnings are being treated seriously, but thorough checks have so far not confirmed any real danger.
