Gurugram: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly beaten up, assaulted, her head smashed against a wall, and her private parts were attempted to set on fire after pouring sanitiser by her live-in partner in Haryana's Gurugram, the officials said.
The woman, who is originally from Tripura, and the man, who is from Delhi's Narela, were living together in a flat in Gurugram.
The incident happened in a flat in Gurugram that is located under Badshahpur police station area.
The 19-year-old girl, who is a biotechnology student studying in Gurugram, alleged that the accused, Shivam (19), struck her on the head with a metal bottle, smashed it against household furniture and wall, and went on to attack her with a knife.
The girl, who was assaulted by her live-in partner on February 19 after an argument over their marriage plans, is in critical condition and currently undergoing treatment in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital
The woman in her statement to the Gurugram Police, said that the violence continued for three consecutive days and the accused forced physical relations on her on the pretext of marriage.
The survivor also in her statement said that the accused allegedly attempted to set her private parts on fire after pouring sanitizer, attacked her legs with a knife and even shot a video during the horrific act.
The man also threatened to thrash her so harshly that she would not be able to walk or become a mother, the woman alleged, adding that he also recorded explicit videos of her.
On February 18 night, the 19-year-old girl managed to use the accused's phone to tell her mother everything in Bengali, as the accused did not understand the language. Then her mother called 112 and informed them about the crime. Later, the police arrived at the spot and admitted the woman to the Sector-10 government hospital.
Later on February 19 night, the woman filed an FIR against the accused in Gurugram under sections 115, 118(1), 118(2), 127(2), 69 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
According to the FIR, the woman, was living in a PG accommodation in Gurugram’s Sector 69 when got in touch with the accused, met Shivam through an online app, and they began talking in September 2025, which later led to meetings.
Sandeep Kumar, PRO Gurugram Police, said that the accused, a 19-year-old man named Shivam from Delhi's Narela, was immediately arrested.
