Hisar: District Congress Committee Hisar (Rural) president Brij Lal Bahbalpuria visited a protest by residents of Agroha village outside the main gate of the medical college on Friday, extending his support to their demand for a reliable supply of clean drinking water and the installation of a new pipeline.
Bahbalpuria interacted with the protesting villagers and described their demands as justified. He said residents had been facing a shortage of sweet and clean drinking water for a long time, forcing them to stage a sit-in to seek a solution to this basic necessity.
Bahbalpuria said access to safe drinking water was a fundamental requirement for every citizen. He stressed that the prolonged crisis highlighted the need for the concerned departments to take the issue seriously and ensure a permanent solution.
The villagers are demanding the installation of a new pipeline to ensure an adequate supply of clean drinking water to the village.
According to the information cited in connection with the project, a tender worth approximately ₹25 crore was reportedly issued for pipeline installation. Additionally, around ₹24.76 crore was stated to have been released under the Jal Jeevan Mission for the renovation of the waterworks pipeline network.
Despite these reported financial allocations, the pipeline work has yet to make sufficient progress, raising questions about the implementation of the project.
Bahbalpuria said that if administrative approvals, objections from different departments or a lack of coordination were causing delays, the concerned officials should work together to resolve these hurdles at the earliest.
“Why should villagers suffer because of departmental obstacles?” he asked, stressing that the government and administration were responsible for completing public welfare projects on time.
Bahbalpuria said the availability of clean drinking water was directly linked to public health and everyday life. He argued that residents should not be forced to endure a prolonged crisis and urged the administration to take concrete steps to start the pipeline work.
He also called on the authorities to provide villagers with a clear timeline for the project's completion instead of limiting their response to assurances.
The Congress leader maintained that the villagers' demand was not driven by political interests but by a basic need affecting every household. He said the concerned departments should explain the reasons for the delay and clarify when the project would be completed.
Bahbalpuria urged the administration to remove all obstacles affecting the pipeline project and begin construction as soon as possible to provide a lasting solution to Agroha's drinking water problem.
He assured the protesting residents that he stood with them in support of their legitimate demand. He also said the issue would be raised at appropriate forums to press for action and relief for the villagers.
Among those present at the protest were Agroha sarpanch Atmaram, Congress block president Ramesh K.D., Anoop Godara, Rajendra Khan, Paramjeet Jakhar, Rajveer Bhambhu, Satpal Dhaka, Rampal, Ajit Rathore, Satpal Rathi, Sonu Jangra, Anil Godara and Dharamveer Jakhar, along with hundreds of other supporters.
