Gurugram: A brazen theft at a petrol pump in Gurugram has left people stunned. A black Scorpio N drove into the Yash Fuel Station on Pataudi-Bilaspur Road late Thursday night. It got a full tank of diesel worth Rs 6,000 and sped away without paying. The incident happened at 11:59 pm on June 25. The CCTV footage has since gone viral on social media and people are asking one question that why would someone driving a car worth Rs 20 lakh steal Rs 6,000 worth of diesel?
The pump attendant filled the tank as requested. When he turned around to bring the payment machine to the driver, the Scorpio took off at full speed. The car moved so fast that the attendant could not even pull the nozzle out in time. Three people were sitting inside the vehicle. The attendant tried to chase the car on a motorcycle but the Scorpio was already gone.
The accused had clearly planned this. The front number plate of the Scorpio was missing entirely. The rear number plate had a tape stuck over it. It was deliberately to hide the registration number. Because of this, identifying the vehicle from the CCTV footage became a difficult process for the police. Investigators are currently working with the photos captured on camera to trace the car.
The pump employee had filed a written complaint at Pataudi Police Station. The complaint demands that the accused should be tracked down. The demands were also includes the pay for the losses. It also asked that strict action be taken so that this does not happen to anyone else. Police have registered the case and the investigation is underway. The footage is spreading fast on social media. Memes have already started doing the rounds. The question everyone is asking remains the same — what kind of person drives a Rs 20 lakh car and steals diesel worth Rs 6,000?
