Hisar: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) celebrated Vijayadashami in its Vivekanand and Azad Nagar sub-units in Hisar on Saturday. The programmes included traditional weapons worship, followed by processions through major city roads accompanied by the organisation’s ceremonial band music, known as ghosh.

A separate Vijayadashami celebration was also organised in the Bhaskar sub-unit in Subhash Nagar on Friday, featuring addresses by RSS functionaries on cultural values, social harmony and nation-building.

Vivekanand unit stresses family values and cultural roots

The Vivekanand sub-unit held its programme at Central Park in Model Town. Educationist Hero Singh Rawat attended as the chief guest, while Ghanshyam Ji, the RSS provincial coordinator for the family awareness activity, delivered the keynote address.

Ghanshyam Ji emphasised the importance of preserving family traditions and cultural values, urging people not to lose touch with their roots. He said strong families contribute to a stronger society and nation.

He also said the RSS had consistently promoted national unity since its establishment. According to him, the organisation focuses on individual development and social cohesion rather than dividing society. He added that volunteers remain committed to serving the nation without needing specific instructions.

Azad Nagar programme highlights character-building

The celebration at Pioneer Academy in Azad Nagar was addressed by district functionary Satish Kumar. He said the values developed through RSS shakhas help shape individuals and contribute to building a better future.

Describing Vijayadashami as a symbol of the victory of righteousness over unrighteousness, he noted that the RSS was founded on the same festival. He said the organisation’s core philosophy had remained unchanged and that its initiatives continued to contribute to society and nation-building.

Satish Kumar added that the RSS did not seek to impose its views on others, but focused on individual development. He said the nation remained the foremost priority for its volunteers and recalled their role in times of national crisis.

Bhaskar unit marks the festival

The Bhaskar sub-unit organised its Vijayadashami celebration in Subhash Nagar on Friday. Former Superintending Engineer Abhayram Saini attended as the chief guest, while Sunil Tiwari Ji, the district intellectual activities chief, delivered the main address.

Tiwari discussed activities undertaken during the RSS centenary year and encouraged participants to incorporate the organisation’s messages and initiatives into their daily lives.
