Rajasthan: A deeply disturbing case has come out of Karauli district in Rajasthan. A 17-year-old girl has accused her aunt of deceiving her and forcing her to undergo a gender change operation.
The girl appeared before the Child Welfare Committee and told everything.

What the girl had said?

The victim was living in a rented room in Bharatpur. She was doing her nursing training from a private college there. Some time ago her cousin uncle and aunt had visited her. On April 18, the aunt came back alone and started living with her.
The aunt then befriended her slowly. She promised marriage. She said that after the gender change both of them would live as husband and wife. Under this pressure the girl agreed to the surgery.

Taken to Delhi in secret?

On April 27 the aunt took the girl by train to Delhi. She called a male acquaintance in Manesar. He arranged a rented room there. The aunt then took the girl to a private hospital in Delhi. A hospital staff member helped sell the aunt's gold jewellery to pay the doctor's fees. The gender change operation was performed. But it failed.

Father filed missing report same day?

On the same day, April 27, the girl's father filed a missing complaint at Mathura Gate police station.
Police tracked the mobile location and reached the Delhi hospital. But the aunt got a tip-off. She fled with the girl before police could reach them.
The two ran through Moradabad, Aligarh, Mathura and Vrindavan before reaching Indore. They stayed at hotels and ashrams in Vrindavan. Finally police tracked their location in Indore and caught both of them.

What action had been taken against doctor and aunt?

CWC Chairman Raja Ram Bhutauli said a medical examination of the girl was conducted. Injuries were found.
The committee has ordered action against the doctor of the hospital where the surgery was performed. The aunt will be charged under the POCSO Act.
The girl is currently undergoing counselling.
