Noida: Several schools in Ahmedabad and Noida schools were thrown into alarm on Friday after they received bomb threat emails just days before Republic Day, according to reports.
Authorities in both cities responded immediately, sending police, bomb disposal teams and fire tenders to investigate.
On Friday, Shiv Nadar School in Noida received a bomb threat via email. The school administration informed the police were informed and all cleasses were suspended due to precautionary measures.
Principal Anju Soni also notified parents as per school safety protocols.
The school also arranged buses for the students to return to the designated drop-off points.
“We have received an email with a Bom threat this morning and as a precautionary measure to allow for a security sweep, the school will remain closed today,” the school said in a notification to parents.
Similarly in Ahmedabad, several private schools received the bomb threat, leading administrations to inform the police. Police, bomb squad, and fire brigade teams arrived at the premises to carry out investigations.
Police teams, including bomb detection squads and firefighters, rushed to the affected campuses to carry out checks. In Ahmedabad, the crime branch and its forensic wing took the lead in probing the emails, which arrived amid heightened security ahead of Republic Day.
Officials said that the warnings are being treated seriously, but thorough checks have so far not confirmed any real danger.
Last week, a school in Punjab's Moga also received a same bomb threat via email and soon after receiving information about it, police thoroughly searched the premises.
Moga's Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gurpreet Singh, said the school principal alerted the police about the threat email, following which the students were sent home.
Last month, several schools in Noida received same bomb threats via email, which later turned out to be a hoax, police said.
