Jammu: Ahead of pulwama attack's seventh anniversary on February 14, the security agencies have issued warning of potential terror threats in Kashmir Valley.
The agencies have issued warnings regarding potential Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and grenade attacks, targeting crowded areas.
According to officials, militants may try to exploit the date to strike again, which prompted a stepped-up response from police and paramilitary units.
The agencies have intensified security checks in districts across the Jammu and Kashmir. The police is monitoring, crowded markets and movement of security convoys more closely than usual.
Police and paramilitary units have also increased patrolling and set up extra checkpoints in sensitive areas.
Police said that officers are checking vehicles and people at various points to spot unusual activity early.
India witnessed one of the deadliest terror attacks in its history on February 14, 2019, as a suicide bomber affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) targeted a convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.
The attack claimed the lives of at least 40 CRPF jawans and injured many others, sparking outrage and grief across the nation.
Since then, the country observes February 14 as a ‘black day’ to commemorate the sacrifice of the martyrs and to condemn the menace of terrorism.
The agencies have appealed to the public to stay alert and report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station.
