Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in Suthiyana on Monday, removing illegal structures from approximately 9,500 square metres of acquired land. The cleared property is estimated to be worth around ₹19 crore.
The operation targeted alleged attempts by colonisers to occupy government land and develop an unauthorised residential colony. Acting on the strict directions of Chief Executive Officer NG Ravi Kumar, the authority deployed bulldozers to demolish the unauthorised constructions and reclaim the land.
According to GNIDA General Manager AK Singh, illegal construction was taking place on nearly 9,500 square metres of acquired land spread across Khasra numbers 798, 810, 815, 816 and 817 in Suthiyana village.
After receiving information about the encroachment, a team from the Project Department reached the site under the leadership of Senior Manager Rajesh Nim. Manager Swatantra Verma and the entire Work Circle-4 team also participated in the operation. The team demolished the unauthorised structures and restored control of the land to the authority.
Additional Chief Executive Officer Sumit Yadav said illegal construction and encroachment would not be tolerated anywhere in Greater Noida's notified area. He urged residents to verify a property's legal status with the authority before purchasing land.
Yadav also cautioned people against investing their lifelong savings in unauthorised colonies, where ownership and construction permissions may be questionable. The authority said its anti-encroachment campaign would continue under the directions of CEO NG Ravi Kumar, with action against those found occupying government land illegally.
