Vrindavan: A village head who had been missing under mysterious circumstances from Prayagraj district for the past seven days has been safely traced near the ashram of Sant Premanand in Vrindavan. The Prayagraj Police located him with the help of mobile phone tracking after deploying 13 teams to search for him.

The missing village head, identified as Jankinath Yadav, belongs to Mansaeta village under the Tharwai police station area of Prayagraj. His family had feared that he might have been kidnapped and murdered following his sudden disappearance. After locating him, the Prayagraj Police brought him back safely.

How did the police trace the missing village head?

According to reports, Yadav had left his home around seven days earlier wearing only a vest and a lungi. He reportedly travelled through the Kachhar route to Phaphamau before heading towards Mathura via Lucknow and Agra.

During his journey, he also spoke to three people, including his peon. It was reported that he threw his mobile phone out of a train while travelling, making it difficult for investigators to establish his whereabouts.

When repeated searches failed to produce any leads, his family registered a missing person complaint at Tharwai police station. Later, suspecting kidnapping and murder, they also sought further police action in the matter.

A new SIM card provided the crucial lead

During the investigation, police discovered that Yadav had obtained a new SIM card using his Aadhaar card. Investigators tracked the location associated with the new SIM and eventually traced him to Vrindavan.

With assistance from surveillance personnel and other police teams, officers located him near Sant Premanand's ashram.

During questioning, it reportedly emerged that he had been experiencing mental stress due to family disputes. His brother, Chhatrapal, who works as a review officer at the High Court, had submitted a complaint that led to police action.

What did the local Vrindavan Police say?

Raman Reti Police Outpost In-charge Shubhanshu Yadav clarified that no case related to the incident had been registered at the local police station.

He said the Prayagraj Police team reached the location directly after receiving information through mobile tracking and safely took the village head into its custody for further proceedings.
