Lucknow: The district administration in Uttar Pradesh has prepared a thorough security plan to ensure that the festival of Bakrid (Eid-ul-Azha) is celebrated peacefully and harmoniously. The police administration has made it clear that any violation of law and order will not be tolerated in the district during the festival of Bakrid, which falls on May 28, 2026.

What did the Peace Committee say?

Due to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's strict stance on the issue of street prayers, the Peace Committee meeting convened for Bakrid clearly stated that prayers would not be offered on the street under any circumstances. If the Eidgah venue is full, people have been asked to pray outside and instead go to another nearby mosque.

Strong security arrangements have been made in sensitive areas. For this, 414 mosques and 158 Eidgahs across the district will be monitored through drone cameras.

What about the security arrangements?

The police administration has divided the entire district into four zones and 16 sectors and deployed zone and sector police officers. The police captain has made it clear that modern technology will be used to prevent any untoward incident. Drones will be flown primarily over crowded areas and sensitive mosques and Eidgahs to monitor every activity from the sky. Additionally, CCTV cameras will be monitored 24 hours a day from the control room.

Police teams will monitor the sites of sacrifice. This year, too, Eid prayers will not be permitted on the streets. Prayers should be offered only within the premises of designated mosques and Eidgahs, and in case of large crowds, prayers should be offered in shifts. The police administration has appealed to religious leaders and mosque committees to educate residents in their areas about the importance of following these instructions.

What did police say?

In view of Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid), the Inspector in-charge held a meeting with the staff of UP 112 in the Police Line auditorium on Saturday and made his team more alert and vigilant regarding serious crimes, religious/communal disputes, animal smuggling etc.

Appeal in Peace Committee Meetings

Peace committee meetings are being organised across the district, police station wise, to celebrate the festival peacefully. In these meetings, religious leaders have been appealed to maintain peace and not pay heed to rumours. The Cyber Cell of the police is also keeping a close watch on the internet media so that no misleading information is spread.

Important precautions to be taken during the festival

  • Namaz: Offer only at designated places/premises.
  • Surveillance: Every inch will be monitored through drones and CCTV cameras.
  • Sacrifice: There will be a complete ban on the sacrifice of prohibited animals.
  • Peace: Do not share any kind of objectionable posts or rumours.
