Lucknow: The post-mortem report for Prateek Yadav—the younger son of Samajwadi Party founder and former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, and the brother of former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav—has been released. A six-member team of experts conducting the post-mortem determined that Prateek's breathing ceased due to a massive pulmonary thromboembolism—specifically, a large blood clot forming in the main vein of the lungs. Consequently, both his heart and respiratory system stopped functioning simultaneously. In medical science, this condition is known as cardiorespiratory collapse. Let us understand what exactly constitutes a pulmonary thromboembolism—a condition that leaves an individual absolutely no opportunity to recover, not even enough time to summon a doctor.
Simply put, a blood clot forms within a vein in the body. This clot travels through the bloodstream and reaches the lungs, where it obstructs the main pulmonary artery. This blockage halts the flow of blood and oxygen to the lungs. The sudden deprivation of oxygen places immense strain on the heart, and death can occur within a matter of minutes. Doctors regard this as an extremely critical and life-threatening condition. In Prateek's case, it has been revealed that the blood clot originated in a vein in his leg.
According to reports regarding Prateek Yadav's demise, his health took a sudden turn for the worse early Wednesday morning. He lost consciousness and collapsed in the kitchen. A close associate stated that Prateek's sudden collapse in the kitchen threw the entire family into a state of panic and chaos. The Civil Hospital was immediately alerted, and a team of doctors was dispatched to his residence to attend to him. It is reported that Prateek's pulse was undetectable upon their arrival. He was then rushed to the hospital. Upon examining his pulse, respiration, and other vital signs, the doctors at the hospital pronounced Prateek Yadav dead. The hospital administration confirmed that Prateek Yadav was brought in at 5:55 AM; however, by that time, it was already too late—his heartbeat and breathing had ceased. Following an examination, he was declared dead.
A post-mortem examination was conducted to ascertain the cause of Prateek Yadav's sudden death on Wednesday morning. The procedure lasted for approximately two hours. The team conducting the examination consisted of six doctors. During the post-mortem, Prateek Yadav's heart and viscera were preserved for further forensic analysis. The entire post-mortem procedure was also videographed. During the examination, specialists thoroughly scrutinized every aspect; no signs of injury were found anywhere on the body. According to the report, Prateek's condition deteriorated due to a large blood clot forming in the main pulmonary vein. This medical condition struck so suddenly that it left the patient with absolutely no chance of survival. Ultimately, he breathed his last.
Following Prateek Yadav's demise, some media reports on Wednesday morning—citing sources close to him—claimed that there were signs of injury on his body. However, the post-mortem report explicitly states that there were no signs of injury on his body. The report submitted by the team of doctors confirmed that no external injuries of any kind were found on Prateek Yadav's body.
