A six-member team of experts conducting the post-mortem determined that Prateek's breathing ceased due to a massive pulmonary thromboembolism—specifically, a large blood clot forming in the main vein of the lungs. Consequently, both his heart and respiratory system stopped functioning simultaneously. In medical science, this condition is known as cardiorespiratory collapse.
