The deceased has been identified as Imrana. Her body was found in the forest of Nagal Ahir village on August 14. The postmortem report confirmed death due to head injury. Police investigation revealed that Imrana and Shamshad were allegedly close for the last few months. According to the police, a dispute over money and the woman's contact with another person became the reason for the murder.
According to the police, Imrana worked in a pharmaceutical company in Chhutmalpur. Shamshad lived in the neighbourhood and would often drop her to work or bring her back by bike. During this time, the conversation between the two increased and later a relationship was formed. Police say that both were in contact with each other for about seven-eight months.
During investigation, the police came to know that Imrana wanted financial help from Shamshad for her daughter's marriage. There was tension between the two regarding this matter. According to the police, Shamshad was also angry over the woman's contact with another person. The police are looking into connecting these things that came to light during the interrogation as the reason for the murder.
According to the police, on the evening of August 13, Shamshad had gone to pick up Imrana from her company. It is alleged that he took the woman with him after promising to give her money and meet her and went towards the forest. During investigation, the police also came to know that he had left his mobile at home. Apart from this, changes were also made in some things related to the bike.
Police allege that after reaching the forest, Shamshad attacked Imrana with an iron rod. She suffered injuries to her head and face and died. After this the body was dumped near the drain. Police have included evidence related to the incident site in the investigation.
According to the police, after the murder the accused had broken the woman's mobile phone. After this she was thrown into the pond. An attempt was also made to hide the iron rod used in the crime. The police are now connecting the links of the incident through recovery and forensic investigation.
According to the police, initially the investigation into the case was also revolving around another person. Kesar alias Keshav's name had appeared in the complaint of the woman's husband. But as the investigation progressed, the police became suspicious of Shamshad's activities. After this, his role was investigated with the help of CCTV footage and other clues.
After the woman's body was found, the police looked at the CCTV camera footage of the routes where she had last gone. According to the police, Shamshad's activities appeared suspicious in the footage. After interrogation, his name came up in the murder. Police arrested him on August 22 near Harora Cut.
