Vrindavan: The suspicious death of Rasik Dulari Sharan, also known as Deepak Lodhi and a formally initiated disciple of Sant Premanand, has reached the Allahabad High Court. The court has scheduled a hearing for November 6 on a criminal public interest litigation filed by social activist and advocate Prahlad Krishna Shukla.
The case has remained unresolved for nearly one-and-a-half months, and the upcoming hearing is expected to bring renewed attention to the investigation.
Rasik Dulari Sharan, a resident of Jabalpur, died under suspicious circumstances on September 25 after falling from the fourth floor of a building near Varah Ghat in Vrindavan. He was taken to a hospital in an injured condition, where doctors reportedly found serious injuries. He later died during treatment, following which the hospital authorities informed the police.
During the investigation, police reportedly recovered an electric grinder from his room and examined CCTV footage from the building and surrounding areas. The footage allegedly showed him falling from the rooftop.
Following the incident, the deceased’s brother submitted a complaint to Mathura Police, seeking an impartial investigation. However, it has been alleged that no formal case had been registered even after around six weeks.
Dissatisfied with the police response, advocate Prahlad Krishna Shukla wrote to the state’s Additional Chief Secretary, the District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police three days after the incident, seeking appropriate action.
He subsequently approached the Allahabad High Court through a criminal public interest litigation, alleging that the circumstances surrounding the death required a thorough and impartial investigation.
The petitioner has pointed to the reported injuries, the recovery made from the room and other circumstances surrounding the incident as reasons for a detailed probe.
The court accepted the petition for hearing and fixed November 6 as the date for consideration. The proceedings may clarify the next legal steps in the case.
