Lucknow: Before the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, political activities regarding the voter list have intensified. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has claimed that names of about 1.27 crore Hindu voters are missing from the voter list of the state. Raising this issue in the BJP State Working Committee meeting in Lucknow, he directed the party workers to run a campaign to get the names of the left-out eligible voters added. The Chief Minister said that the voter list should be checked at every booth and coordination should be made with the Booth Level Officer (BLO) in this work.
While presenting the data related to the voter list in the meeting, Yogi Adityanath claimed that there are about 66 lakh people whose names are registered in the voter list of the Panchayat but are not included in the voter list of the Assembly. He said that apart from this, there are about 55 lakh people who are taking benefits of government schemes, but their names are not in the voter list. Describing these figures as serious, the Chief Minister laid emphasis on identifying the eligible people and including their names in the voter list.
The Chief Minister said that the names of about four and a half lakh youth in the age group of 18 to 19 years were not included in the voter list. He also raised the issue of names of women who came to Uttar Pradesh after marriage from other states not being in the list. Yogi said that there is a need to identify all such eligible people and get their names added. He asked the workers to complete this work seriously and not consider it a mere formality.
Yogi Adityanath asked party workers to run a campaign to identify the left out voters and get their names added based on the information available on the Kamal Sathi app. He also entrusted the responsibility of regularly reviewing this work to the MPs, MLAs, assembly constituency in-charges and district in-charges. The Chief Minister clarified that it is the responsibility of the organisation to include the names of eligible voters in the list and officials at all levels will have to play an active role in this.
Referring to the previous Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, the Chief Minister said that the increase in the number of only about four lakh new voters during this process is a matter of concern. He stressed taking this seriously and preventing any eligible voter's name from being left out in the upcoming revision. In the meeting, workers were instructed to remain active at the booth level and continuously verify the information related to the voter list.
Yogi Adityanath said that along with the work of voter list, party workers should also respond to the negative propaganda of the opposition on the basis of facts. He talked about keeping the social media team active in every mandal, Shakti Kendra and booth. The Chief Minister called upon the workers to disseminate the schemes and achievements of the government to the public and to remain alert against activities that create division on the basis of caste in the society.
