Lucknow: Many important decisions were approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath before the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. A total of 18 proposals were approved in the meeting, of which the most talked about decision is the plan to provide free scooties to meritorious girl students. The government says that the objective of this initiative is to increase participation of girl students in higher education, provide them safe and convenient transportation and give new momentum to women empowerment. Along with this, the cabinet also approved many other proposals related to administration, education and development.
Under the decision of the Cabinet, free scooters will be provided to meritorious girl students through Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme. In the first phase of the scheme, meritorious girl students studying in the final year of graduation and postgraduate studies are likely to get its benefits. The government was already preparing for the identification and selection process of eligible girl students for this scheme. A budget has also been earmarked to implement the scheme, which is expected to benefit a large number of girl students.
The state government believes that many girl students from rural and remote areas have to travel long distances to reach college. Due to lack of transport facilities, many girl students leave their studies midway. By getting free scooter, their movement will be easier, time will be saved and they will be able to participate more actively in higher education as well as skill development and employment oriented activities. The government is also linking it with women's safety and self-reliance.
Apart from the Scooty scheme, many proposals related to various departments were also approved in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The government also took decisions on matters related to administrative reforms, development projects and public welfare schemes. The objective of these proposals is said to be to strengthen the basic facilities in the state, ensure better implementation of government schemes and extend benefits to various sections.
These decisions of the cabinet have come at a time when the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly is about to begin. It is believed that through these decisions, the government will prominently place its agenda related to education, women's welfare and development in the House. There is a possibility of the opposition also raising questions on these schemes and government policies, in such a situation a detailed discussion on these issues can be seen in the Assembly.
The Yogi government has been continuously emphasising new schemes for women and daughters. The government claims that women are being provided more opportunities in the fields of education, security and employment. The free scooter scheme is also being considered as part of this broader strategy. The Chief Minister has already said that providing better resources for education to girl students is one of the priorities of the government and this scheme is an important step in that direction.
After the approval of the Cabinet, the concerned departments will finalise the process of implementation of the scheme. Preparing the list of eligible girl students and deciding the distribution process and other administrative formalities will be completed. The aim of the government is that the benefits of the scheme should reach the eligible girl students as soon as possible so that they can get direct benefits in the new academic session. Along with this, the government will also focus on other cabinet decisions and legislative work in the assembly session.
