Tech News: On Monday, Reliance Jio's mobile and broadband services suddenly came to a standstill in many parts of the country. Thousands of users reported facing severe problems with mobile networks, internet browsing, voice calling, and Jio Fiber services. This widespread outage disrupted digital connectivity in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kerala.
As soon as the issue began, a flood of complaints related to Jio’s services appeared on the outage-monitoring website DownDetector. According to the platform, around 400 users had reported network issues by 1:45 PM. However, within just an hour, the number of complaints surged past 12,000—indicating that this was not a minor disruption but a major technical crisis.
DownDetector's report stated that about 56% of users were experiencing problems with mobile internet. Meanwhile, 32% of users reported issues with calling services, and 12% complained about disruptions in Jio Fiber. The situation worsened around 2:00 PM as complaints started pouring in simultaneously from several metro cities.
As the outage persisted, user frustration spilled onto social media. Thousands tagged Jio’s official handles, demanding answers on the cause of the disruption and when normal services would resume. While some vented their anger through memes, others threatened to switch to alternative networks.
So far, Reliance Jio has not issued any official statement regarding the widespread outage. The company has not clarified whether the disruption was caused by a technical glitch, server failure, or a scheduled upgrade. As a result, millions of Jio users remain confused and concerned, awaiting updates on service restoration.
The sudden outage of Jio services also had a direct impact on businesses, especially those dependent on real-time internet connectivity like online payments, app-based services, digital classrooms, and e-commerce platforms. Many users reported failed transactions, interrupted video calls, and delays in delivery services. Small businesses, freelancers, and remote workers expressed concern over the lack of reliable connectivity, which hampered their productivity during peak working hours. With Jio being one of the largest telecom operators in India, such a disruption highlighted the country's growing dependence on uninterrupted digital infrastructure.
