New Delhi: Instagram has quietly launched something that many users have wanted for years. And something that many others will not be happy about.
You can now view someone's story without them knowing. It will be silently and no footprint leaving behind.
But it will cost you.
Meta has launched a paid subscription called Instagram Plus. It is available for Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook users. The free version stays free. Nothing changes there. But if you want extra features, you pay Rs 299 per month.
The 'secret story viewing' is the biggest feature. When you watch someone else's story. They will be never find out.
But that is not all.
You can also see how many times people rewatched your story. Once, twice, three times. You will know exactly who came back and how many times.
Your story can now stay up for 48 hours instead of the usual 24. Every week you can put one story in the spotlight. You get special fonts in the bio, exclusive emojis and an animated super heart reaction.
Creators get something big too. You can now pin up to 6 posts at the top of your profile. Earlier it was limited to only 3 posts.
It's very simple that the major factor of this decision is revenue strategy.
Meta wants to earn beyond just advertisements. A paid subscription tier is their way of building a new income stream directly from users.
The company believes many users will pay for these features. Especially creators and people who want more control over their privacy and reach.
