New Delhi: Millions of people travel by train every day, which is why the government app Rail One is now offering a discount on train ticket bookings to provide relief to the general public. This step by the Indian Railways is expected to boost the travelling experience for millions of passengers while offering a hefty discount during the purchase of tickets.
This offer started today, January 14, 2026. If you book unreserved (General Ticket) tickets through this app and make a digital payment (UPI, card, app wallet), you will get a 3% discount.
The offer has started, but a question that is on everyone's mind is how long this offer is valid? Northern Railway posted on X (formerly Twitter) not only about the offer but also clarified that the offer will be active from January 14 to July 14, 2026. This means you can avail of this offer for six months.
Railway officials have clarified that the 3% discount is only available for bookings made through the Rail One app. If you book general tickets through any other online platform or website, you will not get the discount. It is said that the purpose of launching this offer is to reduce crowding at the ticket counters at railway stations.
This is a super app developed by CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems) and integrated with IRCTC. With this app, you can not only book train tickets but also get information such as PNR Status, Track Your Train, Order Food, Rail Madad, File Refund, and Coach Position. This app is available for both Android and Apple users on the official Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Please download it only from the official stores.
The Indian Railways is continually taking steps to improve passenger amenities. Introducing new generation trains, redeveloping stations, upgrading old coaches to new LHB coaches, and many more such steps have improved passenger experience in the last decade.
On July 1 last year, Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw had launched a new app, RailOne, at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on 40th Foundation Day of Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). RailOne is focused on improving passenger interface with railways. It is a comprehensive, all-in-one application with a user-friendly interface. The app is available for download on Android Play Store and iOS App Store.
