Moradabad: Intense heatwave in the country, is troubling everyone, especially in the plains of North India, temperatures have surpassed 45 degrees Celsius in many places. The intense heat and sunlight are causing problems for both ordinary people and animals. The heatwave has led to an increase in the number of cattle in veterinary hospitals. Due to the scorching sun and heat, many goats have fallen ill ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations.
Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakrid, is just a few days away. However, the intense heat is making goats sick. In Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, several cases have been reported where people have rushed to the hospital with sick goats.
Veterinarian Vikas Kumar said that the animals are suffering from high fever, dehydration, and diarrhea due to the intense heat. He added that the number of goats affected is high.
"Due to the intense heatwave, the animals are catching high fever, dehydration problems, and even diarrhoea. The number of goats is high among the cases," said Kumar.
He said owners should provide them with plenty of water and avoid taking them outside in the heat. He added that treatment includes a drip, antibiotics, and painkillers if needed.
"The owners need to give them more water and avoid taking them out in the heat... Drips are being administered as a part of treatment, and antibiotics and analgesics are being given if needed..." added Kumar.
This year, Bakrid will be celebrated on May 28. People are busy buying goats in the markets.
