Rampur: To resolve a domestic dispute involving a man with two wives in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur, the village panchayat had to take an unusual decision to end the daily conflict.

Both wives asserted their legal rights over the husband and insisted that he should stay with them, leaving family everyone tensed.
After the dispute escalated, the local police had to interfere, asking the village elders to help resolve it.
Later, the panchayat held talks with all parties in the matter in an effort to restore calm and a agreement was drafted.
After discussion, the village council came up with a plan on paper. The week was broken into three parts for each wife, with:
Both wives and the husband agreed to this proposal in front of the police and pachayat and signed the written agreement. Elders said the idea was to reduce conflict and give each partner a clear routine.
In February last year, a similar incident was reported in the Purnia district of Madhya Pradesh. A agreement was drafted between the parties. according to the agreement the husband was required to spend three days with each wife and one day for himself
