Kolkata: The date and venue for the swearing-in ceremony of the new government in West Bengal have been finalized. Sources indicate that members of the new cabinet—including Bengal's first BJP Chief Minister—will take their oaths on May 9 at 10:00 AM at Kolkata's historic Brigade Parade Ground. Sources further note that May 9 marks the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore; for this reason, the BJP is placing special emphasis on this particular date.

Governor C.V. Ananda Bose will administer the oaths of office and secrecy to the ministers of the new government. This time, the swearing-in ceremony is set to be organized on a grand scale. Thousands of party workers, supporters, and members of the general public are expected to be present at the Brigade Parade Ground.

Meanwhile, following the conclusion of the West Bengal Assembly election process, the Election Commission (EC) has issued an official notification regarding the constitution of the new Legislative Assembly. This notification has been forwarded to the Governor of West Bengal. With this, the electoral process in the state has formally concluded, paving the way for the formation of the new government.

When Will Amit Shah Arrive in Kolkata?

Earlier, on Tuesday, the BJP Parliamentary Board appointed Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah as the central observer for the election of the party's legislative wing leader in West Bengal. Additionally, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has been named as the co-observer. Both leaders will hold meetings with the state's newly elected MLAs and the leadership to take a final decision regarding the names of the Chief Minister and the cabinet members. It is reported that Amit Shah will arrive in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, on Thursday to hold these meetings with the MLAs.

How Did BJP Create History?

It is worth noting that in the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly elections, the BJP delivered a historic performance, securing victory in 207 seats, while the ruling TMC was limited to just 80 seats. In this context, the appointment of a senior leader like Amit Shah as the observer is being viewed as a sign of organizational strength within the party and an indication that the government formation process will be conducted smoothly.
