Kolkata: Following her defeat in the West Bengal elections, Mamata Banerjee held a press conference on Tuesday and announced that she would not resign as Chief Minister. The outgoing Chief Minister blamed the Election Commission for her defeat, stating, 'I won't resign, we haven't lost'.

After the Trinamool Congress (TMC) suffered a heavy defeat on Monday, Mamata Banerjee addressed a press conference in Kolkata and alleged large-scale rigging, voter list manipulation and widespread violence.

The outgoing Chief Minister also claimed that “100 seats were stolen” and described it as a “murder of democracy”.

Will Mamata resign?

During the conference, TMC leader said that, "I will not resign, I did not lose, I will not go to Raj Bhavan...The question doesn't arise. No. Now, I also want to say that we didn't lose the election. It is their attempt to defeat us. Officially, through the Election Commission, they can defeat us, but morally we won the election."

Did Mamata Banerjee accuse BJP?

Mamata Banerjee also accused BJP of assault, stating that, "When I came to know that all counting agents are withdrawn, I was leading by about 30,000 and about 5 rounds were left. We should have got more than 32,000. Then the BJP candidate went inside along with 200 CRPF personnel and 200 outside goons, then they beat up our people."
