What did Mamata Banerjee say?

After filing the nomination, Mamata Banerjee said that "I appeal to you all to ensure TMC's victory not only in Bhabanipur but in all 294 seats of Bengal."

"I am really pained that so many names have been deleted from the electoral rolls. I fail to understand why the voter lists have been frozen. We will again move a court against it," Banerjee added.

Did Mamata walk 800 meters to file her nomination?

Mamata Banerjee was accompanied by a large crowd of supporters as she left her Kalighat residence to file her nomination papers.

In her usual style, Mamata greeted party workers and supporters who were lined up on both sides of the road with folded hands. the Chief Minister then walked approximately 800 meters to the Alipore Survey Building, where she filed her nomination papers.

What did the Chief Minister say to people?

During the road show, Banerjee told reporters, "I was born and brought up here in Bhabanipur only. Everything in my life began from here."

While addressing the people, Mamata Banerjee appealed to voters across the state to back her party and not only the Bhabanipur contest.

"I would appeal to the people, not just in Bhabanipur but across all 294 seats, to ensure the victory of our candidates. We will win with a bigger mandate," she said.

Who will Mamata Banerjee face in contest?

Mamata Banerjee, a three-time MLA from Bhabanipur, will face BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari. Adhikari filed his nomination from the seat last week in the presence of senior leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in a display of political power. The battle for Bhabanipur has become a prestige battle, and the constituency has become a symbolic centerpiece of the 2026 assembly elections.

Voting in West Bengal will be held in two phases. The first phase will take place on April 23 and the second phase on April 29, with the election results being declared on May 4.
