New Delhi: Record voting in the first phase of West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 has increased the stir in political circles. According to the Election Commission, very high voting percentage has been recorded on many seats, which has made the contest more interesting. Regarding this huge voting, different political parties are interpreting it in their own way.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has linked this huge turnout to the desire for change and has called it a “mandate”. He says that voting in large numbers is an indication that the public wants change.
At the same time, Trinamool Congress is considering this huge voting as a sign of its support. The party claims that the participation of a large number of women and rural voters can go in its favor.
Experts say that this is the most interesting thing about this election. Both BJP and TMC are citing the same figures in their favor.
According to political analysts, more voting does not necessarily always mean change of government. Sometimes it is also in support of the current government, especially when the organization is strong.
BJP has entered this election with full force and it feels that issues like anti-incumbency and law and order can benefit it. But TMC's ground hold in Bengal is still considered strong.
Mamata Banerjee's party's strong network in rural areas and welfare schemes can give it an edge. This is the reason why the path is not considered easy for BJP.
There have also been reports of violence and clashes from many places during voting, due to which the election atmosphere has become more sensitive.
At present it is clear that the competition is tough. The record voting has definitely shown that this time the elections are not normal. Now the focus will be on the next steps and results, where it will be decided in whose favor this voting goes.
