New Delhi: If you are planning to buy a new electric car, a new vehicle is poised to enter the market just for you. This car comes from the Citroën stable. The company has released a teaser for its updated electric hatchback, the eC3, ahead of its official launch in India. In line with the company's revised naming strategy, the suffix 'X' has been added to this model's name; consequently, it is expected to be launched as the Citroën eC3 X. This updated model will arrive with a host of new features and revised design elements. With this facelift, the company aims to further strengthen its foothold in the market.
According to the teaser, the front profile of the new eC3 X has undergone several changes. The car's front bumper features a fresh design, incorporating an element resembling a silver skid plate. Additionally, the vehicle will be equipped with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and LED fog lamps—features considered to be a significant upgrade compared to the outgoing model. The car may also sport new dual-tone alloy wheels and updated ORVMs (Outside Rear-View Mirrors) integrated with turn indicators.
Speaking of the interior, the company is expected to offer a range of new features. According to reports, the new eC3 X could come equipped with features such as a steering wheel and dashboard featuring a leatherette finish, cruise control, a speed limiter, LED ambient lighting, a fast USB Type-C charging port, an auto-dimming IRVM (Inside Rear-View Mirror), and automatic climate control. Furthermore, a 360-degree camera system may also be provided. The vehicle is likely to retain the existing 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which offers support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The new eC3 X is also expected to feature enhanced safety upgrades. It is expected to feature amenities such as 6 airbags, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), speed-sensitive door locks, and an engine immobilizer. Major changes to the powertrain are highly unlikely. The car is expected to retain the existing 29.2 kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed range of approximately 320 kilometers on a single charge. Its electric motor generates 57 PS of power and 143 Nm of torque. The car has a top speed of 107 kmph.
In terms of pricing, the current eC3 carries an ex-showroom price tag ranging from ₹12.9 lakh to ₹13.26 lakh; however, at this price point, several of its competitors offer a more extensive list of features. Consequently, if Citroën launches the new eC3 X in the market with enhanced features and aggressive pricing, it could certainly create a stir within the electric car segment. It is expected to compete primarily with the Tata Punch EV.
