New Delhi: Honda has confirmed the name of its first made-in-India electric SUV. This new electric SUV will be offered in India under the name Honda Alpha. Its global debut will be on December 2, 2026. The special thing is that the company is going to introduce this electric SUV first in the Indian market.
Along with this, Honda has also announced its new logo i.e. H Mark. This new logo will be used first in India on the Alpha SUV. The concept version of this SUV was showcased in 2025 at the Japan Mobility Show under the name 0 Alpha.
Toshiyuki Yanagisawa, President and CEO of Honda Cars India, said that with the Alpha, the company aims to offer Indian buyers an advanced electric mobility experience while maintaining Honda's hallmarks of quality, reliability, and driving fun.
Testing of the Honda Alpha began earlier this year and it has been spotted several times on Indian roads. Its design features a boxy look with futuristic elements. Expect a thick black panel at the front, integrated LED headlights, and a closed grille. Its EV-specific design could help it stand out from the crowd of other electric SUVs.
In terms of features, the Honda Alpha is expected to feature a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver display, physical controls, ventilated seats, and leatherette upholstery. Safety features like a panoramic sunroof or glass roof, Level 2 ADAS, and six airbags are also expected. The upcoming electric SUV is also expected to feature ABS and EBD.
Honda hasn't yet shared official details about the Alpha's battery, motor, and driving range. However, reports suggest it could be offered with two LFP battery pack options, with capacities ranging between 65 kWh and 75 kWh. Its real-world range on a full charge is expected to be around 450 to 500 kilometers. The company is expected to reveal details about its technical specifications in the coming weeks.
Honda may also launch its sporty hybrid car, the Prelude, in India. This two-door coupe is expected to be the company's first performance-oriented car in India. It is based on the same platform as the Honda Civic. It is expected to launch in 2027. However, the company has not yet provided any official information on this.
