Auto News: The Maruti Suzuki Brezza has always been a top contender in the compact SUV segment in the Indian automobile market, but the September 2025 sales figures may be a cause for concern for the company. The Brezza's sales have declined significantly, causing it to drop out of the country's top 5 best-selling SUVs. Let's take a look at the Brezza's September sales report, including how many customers the SUV gained and the percentage decline in sales.

Big drop in sales

According to the data, Maruti Suzuki sold 10,173 units of the Brezza in September 2025. This represents a significant decline of 33.61% compared to the 15,322 units sold in September 2024. The Brezza's market share in the compact SUV segment has declined to just 5.79%.

Sales decline despite price reduction

This decline in sales comes after the central government implemented new GST rates in September, reducing the prices of all vehicles, including the Brezza. It was expected that the GST reduction would boost sales, but that hasn't happened with the Brezza. Instead of increasing, Brezza sales have declined. This decline, especially just before the festive season, indicates a shift in customer preferences or increased competition from other models in the market.

Nexon sales doubled

There could be several reasons behind the Brezza's declining sales, with increasing competition being the most prominent. The Tata Nexon is the number one best-selling car in September. Sales of the Nexon have nearly doubled compared to last year, making it the best-selling SUV.

Top 5 selling cars in September

In September, the Nexon sold a total of 22,573 units, nearly doubling the 11,470 units sold last year. Sales jumped 96.80%, accounting for a 12.86% market share. The Creta came in second with 18,861 units sold, an 18.61% increase. Scorpio sales increased 27.25% from last year to 18,372 units.

The Tata Punch was the fourth best-selling SUV in September, with 15,891 units sold, a 15.90% increase from last year. The Renault came in fifth with 13,767 units sold. However, its sales saw a slight decline of 0.77% compared to last year.
