New Delhi: In light of ethanol blending initiatives, it is widely anticipated that the future belongs to electric and hybrid cars. This is precisely why automotive manufacturers are now rapidly accelerating their efforts in the electric and hybrid vehicle segments. Consequently, if you are considering purchasing a hybrid SUV, here is a look at some of the most promising models slated for launch in the near future. These include hybrid offerings from both Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.

What are features of Maruti Suzuki Fronx?

Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce its hybrid powertrain technology in the Fronx facelift model, scheduled for release in 2027. This will feature a series-hybrid configuration, touted as being more efficient and economical than Toyota's Atkinson Cycle system—the technology currently employed in the Maruti Grand Vitara and Invicto models. The company is likely to pair this hybrid technology with a 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine.

Is the Kia Sonet Hybrid a good option?

The next-generation Kia Sonet is all set to launch in 2027. This subcompact SUV will undergo significant updates, featuring comprehensive changes to both its interior and exterior design. Additionally, the new model will be equipped with a hybrid engine. However, detailed specifications regarding the engine have not yet been officially released. The 2027 Kia Sonet will be built upon an entirely new platform, and its wheelbase is expected to be 20 mm longer than that of the current architecture.

What about the Renault Brezza Hybrid?

The upcoming Renault Brezza subcompact SUV is expected to feature a rugged design, an upright stance, and high ground clearance. It will be based on Renault's new RGMP platform, which is designed to support a variety of powertrain options—including ICE (Internal Combustion Engine), hybrid, electric, and CNG configurations. The automaker may utilize a new 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine for the Brezza model.

Should we go for the Hyundai Bayon Hybrid?

Hyundai is also gearing up to launch the second-generation Bayon crossover in India. This project is codenamed BC4i. It is expected to make its market debut later this year. While the first-generation Bayon featured a crossover-like design, the new model will adopt an SUV-like appearance, boasting increased ground clearance and a more upright stance.

Additionally, the vehicle will feature split headlamps, a bold grille design inspired by Hyundai's larger SUVs, chunky wheel arch cladding, a shark-fin antenna, roof rails, sleek connected LED tail lamps, and futuristic alloy wheels. The new Bayon will be equipped with a new 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which will also be configured for the hybrid variant. The official debut of this engine is still pending. The vehicle is expected to be priced in the range of ₹8.5 lakh to ₹14 lakh.
