So far, this hatchback car has crossed the sales figure of 1 crore units worldwide . The company has achieved this figure 20 years and 8 months after its launch in Japan in 2004. Swift 's journey in the Indian market started in the year 2005.

But the most important part of this whole story is the role of India, from where 60 percent i.e. almost 60 lakh units have been sold. This proves that it is the Indian market that made Swift such a big star at the global level .

Why did India make Swift number 1?

Swift entered the Indian market in 2005. At that time, the compact hatchback segment was growing rapidly, but people had very limited options . Swift came and soon became the first choice of Indian customers. Its stylish design, better mileage and affordable price have fulfilled the dreams of the middle class.

Not only this, Maruti also launched diesel variants and sedan models like Dzire over time , after which its demand also started increasing rapidly in the market. Another big reason for its success in India was that the company started local production just a year after launching Swift . This kept the prices under control and the car could be sold on a large scale.

A hatchback , the favorite of the whole world

Swift was not limited to India only. It was also made in countries like Japan, Hungary , China, Pakistan and even Ghana and today it is sold in more than 170 countries. Let us tell you, its share in Europe is 14 percent and in Japan it is 8 percent . The remaining 18% units come from other parts of the world. Since 2004, Swift has changed four generations . This time new technology , safety features and design changes were added to it, but its soul remained the same. Compact size , sporty design and utility according to everyday needs. This engine will first be seen in the new Dzire and Francox and will also come in Swift by 2027. It will have a 1.2 liter Z- series petrol engine , which will become more powerful and fuel-efficient with hybrid technology . As the automobile sector is changing , Swift is also taking a new form . But one thing is clear that the relationship between India and Swift is no longer limited to just the car , it has become a part of emotions and memories .
