Auto News: The new Nissan MPV looks largely like a rebadged Renault Triber. Spy shots reveal a similar body design, swept-back headlamps, curve mirrors, and SUV-style wheel arch cladding. The test car featured 14-inch wheels, highlighting its compact size. At the front, Nissan has given a slightly redesigned radiator grille and unique lower air intake, which set it apart from the Triber.
Inside, the cabin is expected to resemble the Renault Triber, but with Nissan’s own touches. Upholstery, décor elements, and color schemes are likely to be updated. The MPV will have a seven-seat layout, with the third row offering removable seats to increase boot space. The second row will likely get sliding, reclining, and fold-and-tumble functions for added flexibility.
The upcoming Nissan MPV is expected to feature integrated LED DRLs with projector headlamps, LED fog lamps, auto-folding ORVMs with turn indicators, dual-tone alloy wheels, and LED tail lamps. It will also get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and cruise control. On the safety front, it may include front parking sensors, reverse camera, traction control system (TCS), hill-start assist (HSA), and six airbags as standard.
The MPV is expected to use the same 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine as the Renault Triber. This motor produces 71 hp and 96 Nm torque. Nissan will likely offer both a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox option. With a wider body, higher roofline, and longer wheelbase than the old Datsun Go+, the MPV promises better cabin space and comfort.
Apart from six airbags, the MPV is expected to carry strong safety features. The rear bumper and tail lamp graphics will have a distinctive look. The small yet practical 14-inch wheels hint that the car will target budget-conscious families. Nissan aims to deliver practicality at a low price point without compromising on essential safety measures.
Nissan’s last high-volume launch in India was the Magnite, nearly five years ago. With this MPV, the company aims to revive its sales by targeting the budget seven-seater segment. Positioned as a direct rival to Renault Triber, the MPV is expected to cater to large Indian families looking for space and affordability in one package.
Nissan is planning to launch this MPV in February 2026. The expected price is around ₹5.75 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most affordable seven-seater cars in the Indian market. With modern features, flexible seating, and Nissan’s brand backing, this new MPV could become a strong player in the entry-level MPV market.
