New Delhi: The competition in the Indian mid-size SUV market has become more interesting. Nissan Tekton was launched in a world premiere in India. The looks and design are inspired by the famous SUV, the Nissan Patrol. It was launched with two different turbo petrol engines. Let's take a look at this new car.
We all know how good the famous Nissan Patrol was across the globe, known for its off-roading capabilities, and this car conquered every terrain of the world. Nissan launched a new C-segment SUV, the Nissan Tekton, in India. This car is marketed as a 'Baby Petrol' car, which refers to its resemblance to the Nissan Patrol. Nissan is using this car to mark its return to the Indian market.
This car is a revised version of the Duster. The ex-showroom price of the Nissan Tekton is Rs 10.49 lakhs. This car has a turbocharged petrol engine, 280Nm torque, and Google built-in connectivity alongside 700L suitcase space. The car will be manufactured in India and imported in the world. Bookings for the Nissan Tekton have started, while deliveries will begin from 20 July. The company has offered special interest rates for the first 10,000 bookings. Nissan has appointed actor Hrithik Roshan as the brand ambassador of this SUV.
Nissan has had limited presence in the Indian market over the years. After the success of Magnite, the company was waiting for a model that could increase its share in the best-selling SUV segment. Tekton has been introduced under this strategy. The company believes that the new SUV will attract customers on the basis of design, technology and safety.
At first glance, the Tekton looks different from a traditional Nissan SUV. The large grille at the front, sharp LED lights and the wide bonnet give it a strong road presence. The connected taillights at the rear and the high stance give it the look of a modern SUV. The emphasis is on a premium finish in the cabin too, where the digital display and large touchscreen system are the major attractions.
The new SUV has the option of a turbo petrol engine, which can be purchased with both manual and automatic transmission. The company claims that the engine will deliver balanced mileage along with better performance in both city and highway conditions. The suspension and steering setup has been designed keeping Indian roads in mind.
