Skoda's new compact SUV: The sub-4m SUV segment is set to get even more competitive with Skoda's entry into the fray with an upcoming compact SUV, yet to be named. This move comes in the wake of the recent introduction of the XUV 3XO, expanding the choices in this already crowded segment. The new Skoda compact SUV is slated for launch next year and promises to challenge existing players like the Nexon, XUV 3XO, Sonet, Venue, and Brezza.

Design and Features

The new Skoda compact SUV will showcase the brand's traditional design DNA while offering some differentiation from the Kushaq, another model in its lineup. However, there will be a hint of family resemblance. The highlight of this SUV will undoubtedly be its feature-packed interior. It is expected to come equipped with a 360-degree camera and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Similar to the Kushaq, it will feature a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, touch-sensitive AC controls, and possibly a single-pane sunroof.

Exterior and Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, the new Skoda SUV will be shorter and will have a smaller wheelbase compared to the Kushaq. Despite this, it will sport a muscular and rugged look, typical of SUVs in this category.

Interior Features

Inside, the new Skoda SUV is likely to offer a digital instrument cluster, climate control, connected car technology, and potentially ventilated seats, although specific details will be revealed closer to the launch.

Powertrain and Transmission

To compete with its rivals, the Skoda SUV will not feature a smaller naturally aspirated petrol engine. Instead, it will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, delivering around 115 bhp of power. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Pricing and Competition

Skoda aims to achieve high localisation and aggressive pricing to ensure competitiveness in the market. The pricing strategy will be crucial for the new SUV to gain volume sales and effectively compete with its extensive list of rivals. It is expected that the Skoda SUV will deliver excellent value for money in this highly competitive segment.

With the introduction of its upcoming compact SUV, Skoda is set to intensify the competition in the sub-4m SUV segment. The SUV promises to offer a compelling combination of design, features, and performance, setting it up as a formidable contender against established players like the Nexon and XUV 3XO. Car enthusiasts and buyers alike can eagerly anticipate more details about this exciting new addition to the Skoda lineup as the launch date approaches next year.
